Children With SEND

If a child has identified needs or an EHC plan, we will work with the outside agencies involved with the child. Should a child have more complex needs, the setting will ensure that as well as making reasonable adjustments for access, preparations will be made to ensure the child’s safety and well-being.

The Manager will ensure that risk assessments, staff training, health care plans and all other adjustments are made prior to starting the setting. We will follow the guidance as set out in the Derbyshire County Council Early Descriptors of SEN provision to provide a smooth transition and if required we will apply for addition inclusion support.

The SENCO will check if the child is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance and if so, must ask for evidence to enable them to claim the Disability Access Fund (DAF). If eligible but not in receipt of the allowance, the SENCO will support the family in their application. More information can be found www.gov.uk/disability-living-allowance-children/howtoclaim.

Equality procedures are shared and widely promoted.
